Movie: 28 Days Later (2002)

Intro: At my brother, Dave's, house we got to talking about what the hell we'd do in the event of zombies taking over. Before now my experience with zombie movies was limited to Dawn of the Dead. Dave said he enjoyed 28 Days Later and he happened the have the DVD, so we watched it.

*warning, the review includes some spoilers, but nothing you wont' see in the first 5 minutes
Summary: A virus, which transforms humans into flesh-hungry monsters, has spread rapidly throughout Great Britain after an infected monkey is released by animal rights activists. A single drop of blood in an open wound or orifice will turn the unfortunate victim into a Zombie in less than thirty seconds. Jim, the protagonist of this story, awakens to find himself in a hospital bed. The hospital is empty and it seems the entire city of London is also. He's not quite so lucky, as zombies roam the city's dark corners. After meeting up with two saviors and fellow survivors, his adventure begins.

Review: On the whole, 28 Days Later is a well-done zombie movie. A few things were rather annoying, however. All the characters are prone to really poor decisions and/or stupidity. For example: trained military personnel randomly firing bullets into tents and cars. And another: Only three times did characters have enough sense to have full-body coverings when fighting zombies, and each of these were the first time we saw them. Why would they not have full-coverings all the time, especially with the virus being so contagious. Besides these small annoyances, it is well produced and always leaves you with a glimmer of hope even when the going gets tough.
